London's Boy Scout, like so many of their peers, are keeping their identities under wraps for the moment. The mystery angle doesn't always work out, though, you have to have the songwriting chops to back up the crisp, elusive aesthetics. Fortunately for this lot, they've got all the tools they need and then some. Their debut track, 'Get Me By', showed a lot of promise, but it's their new cut, 'Bitter Blue' that has our attention piqued and hairs on end. Static fizzing percussion, waves of oscillating synthesizers and the occasional soft guitar twang provides a subtly surging backdrop for Boy Scout's mellow, pitch-shifted male vocal - it's a big progression for him/them, and we can't wait to hear more. - DC
